Welcome to the New CIK Collaboration Website
The Colorado Internet Keiretsu (CIK) has used three major products for its communications in the past. 1) Viadesto from Dream Team Technologies served us for years to house our work at http://cik.org 2) Yahoogroups.com has hosted our mailing lists; 3) LinkedIn.com supported initial experimentation with reputation management and connection. |
As manager of the Special Interest Groups and later as Executive Director, I've managed these three technologies for the greater part of the past 5 years. Each technology had its wonderful qualities and we are grateful for what each has contributed. Each had its holes and blind spots; I won't enumerate. |
Two years ago I came to the conclusion that had to build my own system if I were to get what I really needed. Group Commons at http://groupcommons.com was born. It's in beta, but good to go with about 40 clients using it on a regular basis. It's time to invite the CIK to participate. Here are the features we're rolling out. |
All mail intended to address the full CIK membership will now be directed to cik-list-Discuss@groupcommons.com Cikannounce@yahoogroups.com will continue to work during parallel testing for another 4-6 months. Messages inadvertently directed to Yahoogroups will be manually recreated on the CIK News listing. You may see current items at http://cik.groupcommons.com |
Membership Directory
One constaint CIK refrain has been the lack of a membership directory. http://cik.groupcommons.com now enables logged in users, after login, to access other members, make requests, issue tickets, trade services, work together on projects, etc. Information is confidential. Email addresses are encoded. |
Individual Profiles
You may share as much information or as little information as you please. Minimally, the system requires an email address and a first and last name. I've populated the directory with every past member or friend I could find. If you're not there, we'll put you there. If you wish to be deleted, you're only a click away from deletion. |
Login required. Here's something entirely new. How would you like to conduct a google-like search of all CIK member public web sites? CIK member only. Private google. CIK private Yellow Pages. You want something, do a search. Results are scoped to CIK members. You can only remember the first name of somebody you met recently... You want to see how many of the CIK websites are linked to yours, or how many mention you by name, or how many are still using your old 800 number? You want to find a specialist and you want to trade first within the CIK... |
Log in and try out CIKSearch. |
We'll take it slow at first with these major features. As we get more experienced and define what we want, we'll turn on additional features such as projects, tickets, FAQS, specialized mailing lists, skills inventories, RSS, blogs, conference registration, foreign languages, and a bunch more.... |
